I’m not gonna lie, at first, I kinda detested the serialized(ish) format of the show. Then episode 5 came around and I realized a greater story arc may be picking up… and then it didn’t? And then there were quite a few more episodes of neatly compartmentalized stand-alone stories…

Now, I’m sure a lot of you are just about to pull out those pitchforks based on how this review has opened! 

But the majority (not all) of these feelings melted away when I hit the last three episodes of the series. I still wish there were a few less detours to get here, but man oh man, I started to feel that emotional anguish as each character’s story wrapped up.

And don’t get me fucking started on Ed and Ein. Holy shit why the fuck am I crying over them

I think I hold a grudge against it because it prevented me from trying other anime’s earlier
