The fried chicken scene was hilarious.
The movie slasher killing spree scene is seared into my mind: I was at the edge of my seat and wanted to cheer; it was some of the most exciting visual momentum I’ve seen in cinema in a while!
Every scenario in this film asks: will you follow the group… or be the outcast?
AMAZING. Zombies that actually scare the fuck out of you, they adapt, they’re smart, they run, hell they even shoot guns!!! THESE are zombies, not those clumsy lethargic bafoons you see in other films!

I had the great pleasure of watching Scream 3 in my childhood and having the parody scenes overlayed throughout my first watch of Signs was really an unexpected viewing experience

Okay actually though… the animation is… holy shit, one of the most insane feats of all time.
Also one of the most poignant and culturally relevant films about self actualization.

I woke up from a dream in the middle of the night. It was so vivid, so tangible. I was in a horse-drawn carriage with some other travelers and we formed a party on the spot. We frequented taverns, exchanged stories, etc.
I never have dreams like this. In fact, I've never really consumed much fantasy content to begin with. But that dream made me crave more stories from the worlds of mages and dragons. This was one of those series that kept coming up over the years but I persistently dismissed because, again, I generally wasn't interested in fantasy.
After finally giving it a chance, I get it. I get it. The slice of life parts are so relaxing, the background art is breathtaking, and the story of an elf living through many centuries and reconciling her past is such a unique storyline.
The greatest hook of all is that you're dropped into the story **after** the big boss has been defeated and the world saved. You get small glimpses through Frieren's memories, but that story is in the past... she's looking forward now, making new stories.
I’d like to think that the mom has set off an infinite chain reaction where the dad keeps getting stolen from the next family until they escape and then make the call for pizza over and over until someone gets eaten by a pterodactyl or something and breaks the chain
Fantastic story using dinosaurs as a parallel for being trapped in marriage. Gotta appreciate that they listened to Carl Sagan when designing the wormholes! It’s pretty accurate to the way he explained it!
Also you can’t tell me otherwise that the brothers crush was definitely not into him as much as she was into his sister 😂
This feels like one of those things where you’re not sure whether you should love it or hate it. For one thing— and I’m not usually the kind of person to rag on dark comedy— starting the movie off with a rape scene and framing it like a comedic and temporary inconvenience was… a choice. Was also shocked by the suicide scene which seemed to visualize it in excruciating detail. A lot of moments felt forced for shock factor (“what’s the next thing we can do to make them gasp?”)
Now that I got the bad out of the way: some amazing performances in here, cool camera work, and frustrating goddamn writing
Me ugly crying at the theatre when Mitsuha looks at what’s written on her hand while the people next to me loudly pull out containers of food and yell “damn she got slimed”
Spider-Man (Tom Holland, Spider-Man: Homecoming) is facing a reckoning. He’s dealing with the reality of everyone forgetting who he was due to Doctor Strange’s spell. While fighting a new enemy he can’t quite track and WAIT OH MY GOD IS THAT A BMW DONT WORRY SPIDER-MAN ILL HELP YOU BY PUTTING IT IN SPORT MODE ISNT IT REALLY NEAT?!
We find spidey working with a new hip mayor (Liza Colon-Zayas, The Bear), cooking up hot new crimes for him to bust. But if only he could stop blacking out from… spider-puberty?! (don’t worry, we won’t be revisiting this concept for the rest of the film, in fact we can just completely forget about it)
Peter (Tom Holland, Spider-Man: No Way Home) turns to an all-knowing woman from a far away land (Florence Pugh, Dune II) to help him track down this elusive villain. As we zoom out to follow him zipping across the city we see a billboard AND WOW IS THAT A BMW AD ON THAY BILLBOARD HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW BMW OMG ITS ON A BILLBOARD BECAUSE ITS JUST AWESOME WOW BMW
We learn that our villain is none other than Jane Grey (Sadie Sink, Stranger Things) and she has the ability to telepathically control people and do remote viewings. She is eventually apprehended and handed over to the head of the “good guys” department in the US government (Tramell Tillman, Severance) who runs experiments on her mind (is this sounding familiar yet?). She ultimately breaks out and performs a domain expansion (jujutsu kaisen) while nearly killing Papa, um, I mean Mr Milchick, AAAAA I mean Bill Metzger, head of “good guys” dept.
Peter Parker (Tom Holland, The Odyssey) eventually returns home and realizes that the love of his life, MJ (Zendaya, Dune I) will need more than that to remember him.
This movie was brought to you by BMW, Little Caesars, and writers that watched stuff on TV, wrote a story combining it all into one film, and then cast all the actors from those very pieces of media
Quite enjoyed this, score was okay and the framing made me feel soooo suffocated and claustrophobic which just did not feel right for every scene.
Overall though, solid narrative and great performances all around
